What is the difference between Private Tours and Tours by Small Group ?2020-03-06T15:02:55+00:00

We offer two different kind of experience

Private Tours: The Super Jeep is just for you and your group (from 1 to 6 persons). Prices are per booking, not per person.

Small Group Tours: The tour is from 2 to a maximum of 6 passengers. Prices are per person.

Quality, stops, other conditions of the tours are similar. Private tour is good if you want to travel alone and do not want to share the Super Jeep

Our main office is located in Reykjavik, around 15 min by car from the city center (click here for details). We spend most of our time on the road so if you want to visit us it is better to call us before 🙂

If a tour is displayed online you can book it and be guaranteed to have a seat.

There are a few different ways for you to book our tours:

  • The first and easier solution is to book right here on our website. There is a booking window on each tour page. You just have to select your day, number of travellers, time of departure, pick up option and fill the form with your contact details and information about the place of your pick-up. You select the payment method and validate your booking.

If for any reason, the trip you would like to book is not bookable online, then you can call us directly at our office at this number : (+354) 616 1901

We need to have your name, how many people will join the tour, where you are staying for the pick-up and some way of contacting you either an e-mail or a phone number.

There are different ways in which you can pay for the trips that you book with us :

  • You can pay through our booking website. This is by far the easiest, safest and fastest way to reserve and pay for your adventure. The payment can be made by credit card on Borgun, the Icelandic financial institution. Using Borgun is completely free.
  • You can pay by Wire Transfer in maximum 7 days after your booking. You will have our bank details when you validate your order with this payment method. Your tour will be confirmed when we will receive the transfer.
  • You can pay when you start your trip, by cash (in ISK, EUROS, USD, GBP)

After your payment you will receive by email the confirmation of your tour.

We accept ISK (kr), EURO (€), USD ($), GBP (£).

Our website presents prices in our local currency, the Icelandic Krona (ISK). If you would like to calculate the price of our tours in some other currency, you can use a widget accessible under the price of each tour page or you can do this on thewebsite of the Icelandic Federal Bank.

Our tours include complimentary pick up and drop off, round trip transportation, professional guidance, and all admissions to sites, museums or exhibitions visited, unless otherwise stated in tour description. We also offer a Wifi connection on board for our travelers.

All hotels, guesthouses and places in the greater Reykjavik area including Kópavogur, Hafnarfjörður, Garðabær and Mosfellsbær.

If you book online and you wish to be picked up for a tour make sure you fill in the necessary information during your online checkout.

If you don’t want to have a pick-up, the departure of our tours will be at our main office located at Þorúfell 12 – Íbúð 101, 111 Reykjavík

We ask our travelers to be ready for pick-up in front of hotel or house 30 minutes before scheduled departure of their tour.

The time for the pick-up is indicated in the email of confirmation of the tour. If you have any doubt you can call us.

Drop off after tours is at the hotels, guesthouses, or places where passengers were collected from.

What does the driver (Adam) do ?2015-06-14T14:59:19+00:00

Adam will guide the tour in English.

He is a professional driver who knows abilities but also the limits of the impressive “Super Jeep”. He shows you how to have fun on the wild paths without harming the fragile Icelandic nature.

He is also a very professional guide with a high level of knowledge about Iceland.
He will tell you about the area you are visiting and lead the way throughout the tour. He will also be able to answer your questions, if you have any.

Our aim is to offer quality tours that feature the different aspects of Iceland’s nature, history, culture and modern living.

Weather in Iceland is notoriously unpredictable.

For tours in Iceland during summer, bringing a light rain jacket or a soft shell is in most cases enough protection.

For winter season, warm jacket, good walking shoes, cap or a hat and gloves are essential accessories to combat cold weather.

Layering your outfit is the best way to tackle sudden changes in weather.

Don’t forget to bring your swimsuit and towels ! Iceland is famous for many natural geothermal pools…

You should definitely bring your camera since Iceland is incredibly full of stunning – amazing – scenic views!

Meals and refreshments are not included. You can either bring your own lunch or buy it on the way.

Please keep in mind that Icelandic weather is unpredictable.

The weather changes very fast and with it, conditions change. Adam is trained to deal with changing conditions and our number one priority is to take decisions with travelers safety in mind.

We reserve the right to change your itinerary or cancel your trip due to adverse weather or road conditions.

In case of cancellation due to a bad weather it is possible to choose another date or to get a refund.

Do I need an insurance before going on one of your tours ?2016-10-15T20:31:43+00:00

As with any world travel, we strongly recommend that you have a comprehensive travel insurance and/or personal health insurance to cover cancellation on short notice and other risks. In general, travel insurances are a good idea when you travel.

What is your cancellation & refund policy ?2016-10-15T20:31:43+00:00

Try Iceland Tours reserves the right to alter routes, itineraries or timetables should the necessity arise, including irregularities due to adverse weather or road conditions. No responsibility is taken for losses or expenses due to delay or changes of flights, injury, damaged, negligence, weather or other unforeseeable causes. The estimated duration of tours as indicated on our website are standard times and can vary according to road or weather conditions. Delays may occur for unforeseen reasons. Try Iceland Tours cannot be made responsible for losses that a passenger may face due to delay, regardless whether the loss is direct or indirect.

In case of cancellation due to a bad weather it is possible to choose another date or to get a refund.

If you have to cancel your tour, we kindly ask that all cancellations be made as soon as possible in writing  (e-mail at info@tryiceland.com for instance). If it is not possible for you to send us your cancellation via email, please contact us by phone.

However, in accordance with business practices within the Icelandic travel industry, we reserve the right to charge cancellation fees as follows:

  • 10% of the price of your tour is non refundable, this percentage reflects our cost of booking & preparing your tour.
  • Cancellations made more than 48 hours notice prior to departure: 90% refund
  • Less than 48 hours and more than 24 hours notice prior to departure: 50% refund
  • Less than 24 hours notice prior to departure: no refund
  • No-show at pick-up: no refund

We understand that your travel plans might change. You can easily change the dates for your booked tours by sending us an email to info@tryiceland.com.

You will need to give us your confirmation number, the new date for your tour and give us all necessary information.

Please remember: Your date change must be requested at least 48 hours before scheduled departure.

I still haven’t received a confirmation email. What is wrong ?2015-06-14T15:02:25+00:00

You can expect up to 24 hours before receiving a confirmation via email.

Sometimes confirmation emails can get misplaced by your email server and do not reach your inbox. Try looking in your email’s “Trash” or “Junk” folder.

If more than 24 hours have passed, send us an email to info@tryiceland.com and we will get back to you.

You can always change your booking.

Just make sure you do it in time, so pick up information can be changed.

It is not necessary to print out your confirmation. Just remember the time of the pick up 🙂

We require a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 6 travelers to operate our regular tours. A small group is a great opportunity to have an amazing and unforgettable experience . We adapt to your every needs to make your holiday in Iceland unique and exciting.

If you are a larger group, do not hesitate to contact us, we can also organize on request something amazing !

If I am travelling solo, can I book a tour or is there always a minimum of 2 people ?2015-06-14T04:42:59+00:00

There is a minimum of 2 people for our trips, we usually run the tours on the guaranteed departure dates.

If you are interested in some tours and are travelling solo we can put you on waiting list and contact you if more people book the tour.

Age doesn’t matter !

You have to feel comfortable so we adapt the tour for each travelers with that in mind. If you have specific trouble, just let us know 🙂

Of course !

Our tours are open for everybody. We can offer great experience and memories for all the family !

If your child needs a child seats you just have to let us know that at least 48 hours before the departure of the tour.

We love animals – especially Kinga, she loves Cats when Adam prefers Arctic Fox – but unfortunately we are not able to take them on tours with us.

What is your policy on smoking and alcohol ?2016-10-15T20:31:44+00:00

Smoking is prohibited on board of our car. But we will stop frequently during the tour.

Even if we also love to party, alcohol is prohibited for the safety of all travelers. The consumption of alcohol makes you more prone to hypothermia and unpredictable mistakes…
